STAR Plus announces 'Aap Ki Kachehri- Aap Ke Dwaar' - a CSR initiative to build a more peaceful and productive society
A unique course for dispute resolution in association with Navjyoti Foundation and National Commission for Women.
New Delhi, September 23rd, 2009: The cult show on Star Plus - Aap Ki Kachehri takes another meaningful step forward by announcing the launch of a path-breaking CSR initiative -'Aap Ki Kachehri-Aap Ke Dwaar'. This initiative will train people in dispute resolution and work towards building a more peaceful and productive Indian society by training NGOs in dispute resolution and effective mediation.
The initiative has the support of the Central Social Welfare board in addition to Navjyoti Foundation, National Commission for Women and Delhi Commission for Women. The first two programs will be held in New Delhi and Lucknow on September 30th and October 1st and October 12th and 13th respectively. The course will be conducted by Dr. Kiran Bedi and a legal training expert, Ms. Abha Singhal Joshi, along with visiting faculty like eminent retired judges, senior police personnel, social activitists etc.
Each training program will have 30 people, who have a few years experience in dispute resolution and mediation. These people will be chosen from NGOs having high credibility and the ability to influence lives of the common people. The workshop will train them in conducting effective mediation with the Aap Ki Kachehri method. This will be based on unbiased mediation skills, correct legal knowledge and the ability to provide clarity about the most effective approach to the disputing parties.
Announcing the initiative, Mr Anupam Vasudev, EVP - Marketing, STAR India, said, "The Star Parivaar initiative aims to celebrate families and togetherness. With Aap Ki Kachehri-Aap Ke Dwar CSR program, we aim to bring families and the community together. We at Star Plus believe that peaceful societies are most happy and productive societies and this is a step towards building family bonds which are stronger than ever before. We are grateful to Dr. Kiran Bedi, Navjyoti Foundation and Dr. Girija Vyas, National Commission for Women for their unstinting support."
Added Dr Kiran Bedi, "Aap Ki Kachehri has been through a journey of resolving many cases which have been extremely challenging and difficult. We have attempted to resolve conflicts through a participatory and unbiased process and would now like more people to become a part of taking Aap Ki Kachehri to the people of India. The show has now moved on from being just a television show to having a life of its own. With this unique CSR program by Star Plus, we will now empower people towards society building through effective resolution of disputes.
A mediation platform like AKK serves the purpose of providing people with a forum where they can be assured of an open and fair hearing, which is not as time consuming as the judicial process and most importantly, the parties should be able to understand the legalities of their situation and approach the legal options with clarity and confidence.
